The Commonwealth of Australia has convened the jurisdictional health departments, TGA, funding agencies and eye and tissue banks to progress the review of the tissue donation and transplantation sector in Australia.

Two Guidance Documents have been issued by the AATB

Transfusion and transplantation: Protection and Selection of donors (Grant Agreement No. 738145) is a European Commission co-funded project, which will add to harmonizing European donor selection and protection policies related to SoHO donations

This initiative is a three-year programme, made up of development of an EU web based registry in the first year, with recruitment of clinics and eye banks and collection of data in year two.

The global reach of WUTBA has expanded to include the South African Association of Tissue Banks (SATIBA)  as an Observer Member.
