The GAEBA "Barcelona Principles"

The Global Alliance of Eye Banking Associations has launched during the 3rd World Symposium in Eye Banking, held in Barcelona (June, 2018) a set of agreed principles on the use of human donated tissue for ocular transplantation, research and future technologies. The now known as “Barcelona Principles” is a bioethical framework to inform on the management of altruistic and voluntary donations, their subsequent utility within ophthalmology and research; their retention as a public resource to be shared for the benefit of all and their accessibility by waiting recipients.  The Principles can be assessed at http://www.gaeba.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/GAEBA-2018-The-Barcelona-Principles-FINAL.pdf
